Kean Springer is a
professionally trained pianist who initiallystudied piano
under the tutelage of the
late Lynette DeWeever Dolp/Jinof Guyana, successfully passing the
final grade (Grade VIII) of the Royal Schools of Music with
distinction. She subsequently furthered her studies in music at
the University of Wales and the Guildhall School of Music and
Drama in Britain. Kean has performed on the Steinway Grand piano
at the Frank Collymore Hall on a number of occasions and was
privileged to record her pieces on the same piano and at the same
venue through the courtesy of Dr. Marion Williams, Governor of the
Central Bank Of Barbados. Kean is also a well-known and respected
critic and broadcaster. She has performed on the hotel circuit for
a number of years and began performing with Dr. Clarence Green two
years ago. Their repertoire includes ballads, music from the
shows, jazz standards and folk music. Kean is grateful to her
mentor Sir Courtney Blackman without whose help and guidance this
recording would not have been possible. Dr.ClarenceGreen is a
string bassist who plays a number of instruments. He began his
musical careeras a soprano in the school choirat Sf. Mary's
College and later played trumpet and trombone in carnival band in
Trinidad and Tobago. He moved to the guitar while playing with
bands in Canada and the U.S.
Navy, and also plays the
saxophone and piano. Clarence is at present the Musical Director
of the Guataka Folk Group and plays on the circuit with a number
of ensembles. He is a doctor of chiropractic and his hobbies
include scuba diving, snorkefing, tennis and sailing.
